THE UNTOLD STORY 2 is part of our Vinegar Syndrome Archive collection, celebrating forgotten cinematic oddities from the video store era. This collection was inspired by our own brick & mortar video stores, with locations in Bridgeport, CT; Aurora, CO and Toronto, ON!
Unique to this line, each hand numbered limited edition release will come fitted in a specially designed, bottom loading VHS inspired slipcase, while also including a double-sided poster.
These releases will ONLY be available on our website and at participating indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them. This slipcase edition (designed by Black Coffiend) is strictly limited to 5,000 units and may (but probably not) be followed by a standard edition in the future.

Cheung is in an unhappy marriage. He works with his wife at a local barbecue restaurant and she takes every opportunity to belittle Cheung and use him for his money. To make matters worse, Cheung isn't able to satisfy his wife in the bedroom. One day his wife's cousin, Fung, arrives in Hong Kong from mainland China and Cheung and Fung instantly form a connection. Fung isn't like his wife, she is respectful and treats him well. Cheung tries his best to not give in to temptation, but eventually he is overcome with desire, and he and Fung start a secret relationship behind his wife's back. However, Cheung soon finds himself way in over his head when he discovers that the mild mannered Fung is hiding a dark and grisly secret.
Best described as a Cat III version of the erotic thrillers popularized in the 90s, THE UNTOLD STORY 2 is an in name only sequel to the notorious THE UNTOLD STORY released several years earlier. Whilst not a direct sequel to the original, THE UNTOLD STORY 2 manages to outdo its predecessor when it comes to sexual content, while making sure to still deliver a hefty helping of stomach-churning violence. Starring Emotion Cheung (Bio-Zombie, The Demon's Baby) as the downtrodden husband (a role which he is adept at playing), as well as a truly unnerving performance from Paulyn Sun (Ichi the Killer), and featuring a supporting performance from the king of Cat III films himself, Anthony Wong (Ebola Syndrome), Vinegar Syndrome Archive is proud to present THE UNTOLD STORY 2 for the first time on Blu-ray in the U.S., newly restored from original film elements, and featuring all of the sex and violence one expects to see in a Hong Kong Cat III film.

Reviews
Not a sequel, but still a good movie!
"They once again did a really solid job with the presentation of this release. You get a slipcase, commentary, a poster, and a booklet with an essay. Definitely worth picking up even if you’ve never seen the original."
— Aidan Z. (5/5)
I really need to see the first one. . .
"I've seen a lot of reviews say this is more of an erotic thriller, but the sex scenes aren't really as raunchy as what you'd get in the States. The story is okay enough, but for me, the highlight was Anthony Wong's dopey police character. He delivers a line about going to take a dump so deadpan that it made me lol. Gore is pretty good, but I hear the first movie is superior in every way. I love the packaging on this release."
— NICHOLAS K. (4/5)
Not the original, but still a solid watch
"This one is definitely different from the first film, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit. It has a dark tone, some memorable moments, and enough of that grimy Category III feel to make it worthwhile. Maybe not as iconic as the original, but still a very solid and interesting follow-up. Really happy Vinegar Syndrome gave it this kind of release."

Diet Cat III
"Movie: Always great to see Anthony Wong, and he's the best part of the movie here. Unfortunately, when he's not around there aren't enough laughs, and overall the movie seemed like it was pulling its punches on the violence. There are definitely a few good shocks, but it was disappointing compared to other Cat III films. It also kind of ends up being a justification of prejudice against mainlanders. I didn't realize Viagra has been around so long. Extras: Just a commentary track plus both Cantonese and Mandarin audio options. Also the standard VSA poster. Book: Felt a little light compared to other movie booklet essays. Packaging: Bonus points for reversible cover. Both sides are nice 👍."
— Gideon M. (4/5)
Hong Kong Horror
"Solid horror movie despite the tonal whiplash in the first half of the film, once things start to get crazy it sucks you in until the end."
— Sean J. (4/5)
Sequel to one of Hong Kong's most notorious films
"While the film has some pacing issues (and doesn't reach the intense delirium of the first film), this is still a stylishly shot and beautifully lit piece of Cat. III moviemaking that will please fans, especially with a bit more naked skin. Does this truly fit the VSA-line? I don't know. No matter, slipcover, transfer and extras are again of high quality."
— Tim V. (4/5)
Good Exploitation Flick
"Even though this movie has next to nothing going on in regards to the original, I'm still glad VS pulled this gnarly flick out of obscurity. Easily the best release this movie will probably ever receive."
— Astrid R. (4/5)
Super fun graphic Japanese film.
"Super fun graphic Japanese film."

Better than expected
"This doesn’t have a great reputation among fans of the original, but I enjoyed it a lot. Interesting commentary on HK/mainland cultural prejudices the year before the British lease expired."
— chris c. (5/5)
