This listing is for the standard edition Blu-ray. The limited edition slipcover (designed by Adam Maida) was limited to 5,000 units and is sold out. The two versions are identical, aside from the slipcover.

On a dark and stormy night, Mother and Daughter, a wealthy pair of psychopathic killers with a penchant for murdering their servants, happen upon a badly injured man, laying dying in the mud. Bringing him back to their opulent villa, they begin nursing him back to health; naming him Singapore Sling in the process. As soon as he is "well" enough, the twisted duo begin subjecting him to every manner of torture imaginable. But as each of them develop their own unique interest in their mysterious victim, a perverse love triangle begins to unfold, leading to shocking revelations...

As staggeringly beautiful as it is notorious, Nikos Nikolaidis' acclaimed SINGAPORE SLING is a grotesque, sensual, and altogether unforgettable genre cinema gem from one of Greece's key arthouse auteurs. Distinguished by Aris Stavrou's intricately lit and immaculately composed black and white cinematography, Vinegar Syndrome is thrilled to present the U.S. Blu-ray debut of this mesmerizingly unsettling noir-fantastique, newly and exclusively restored for this release in 4K from its 35mm original negative and boasting an expansive selection of new and archival extras.

Reviews

grotesque and beautiful

"I saw this described as if someone had given Marquis de Sade a camera and said "have at it". I think that's apt. I didn't have any notions going in, but found this quite a bit of fun. You can read the short synopsis, but that doesn't really the viewing experience is like the first time. While I'm not generally a fan of b&w, I do have to admit the cinematography was gorgeous. The interviews are good, and so is the full length documentary on Nikolaidis. A very pleasing purchase, indeed."

Adam C. (5/5)

Arthouse shocker

"This one is a wild ride I first heard about on the Shocking Videos website 20+ years ago. A welcome upgrade from the Synapse dvd."

Brian C. (5/5)

Utterly depraved, yet beautiful?

"The cover is a glimpse into the beauty and absurdity of this insane movie. Gorgeous release."

Anthony C. (5/5)

The Best Blind Purchase Ever

"It cannot be overstated how modern Greek directors including Yorgos Lanthimos were inspired by this dark and thrilling avant-garde opus from Nikolaidis. Truly wild and weird cinema."

Zakaria S. (5/5)

Singapore Sling

"This one was very much a blind buy for me."

Peter O. (5/5)

Black and White greek fuckfest

"Fan of horror, even cinema, you absolutely need this. This is an experience like you never had one before. A contradiction of a movie. The contrast between the content and the formal aspect is literally unforgettable. I'm glad I had the chance to get the OOP slipcover in a special sale a while back."

Thomas F. (5/5)

Greek mix of arthouse and trash, beautifully shot

"From a time when arthouse sensibilities joined forces with the grand guignol or shock tactics. The B&W photography is great and helps to set up an atmosphere of perversion. I had never heard of this director but now I'm interested in seeing other works of him. As the movie, the slipcover is in stark B&W, of great quality, just as the transfer and extra's."

Tim V. (5/5)

Artsy-fartsy sleaze

"sleazy artsy- fartsy nightmare, this could pass for a cult movie by an intellectual author but I got bored out of it after a while. I get it has its audience, it wasnt me. Some hot chick, I give it that."

Rodrigo S. (2/5)

A pretty sick arthouse extravaganza

"Great release for this wild n’ wicked Greek freakshow of a movie. At once uproarious yet also deeply unpleasant and disturbing, this is one to seek out if you enjoy arthouse extremes. The transfer is top notch and the slipcover is gorgeous."

Nicklas J. (5/5)

Singapore Sling is well a certain kind of film

"I’ve long loved this movie despite the strong trigger warnings one must ethically give. I am pleased to have a physical copy now for the archive. Life changing film…"
