Evil land developer, Allen Sangster, has just opened his latest tourist trap: the Memorial Valley Campground. As carloads of happy campers arrive for what they assume will be a weekend of fun in the great outdoors, a much more sinister presence is watching them from the nearby wilderness. When campers start turning up dead, their bodies brutally mangled, George, the head forest ranger, is tasked with finding the killer and putting an end to the bloodshed…but it seems he might know much more about the sinister killings than he’s letting on.

Shot under the title ‘Memorial Day’ and released internationally as ‘Valley of Death,’ MEMORIAL VALLEY MASSACRE is a cheerfully absurd direct-to-video slasher featuring imaginative deaths and a wild choice for a killer. Directed by Robert C. Hughes (Hunter’s Blood) and starring John Kerry (Dolemite), William Smith (Red Dawn), and genre film icon, Cameron Mitchell (The Toolbox Murders), Vinegar Syndrome presents MEMORIAL VALLEY MASSACRE in its official disc debut, newly restored in 4K from its original camera negative.

Caveboy

"The love child of Chuka from Land of the Lost, and Feral Kid from The Road Warrior kills campers. This feels almost like a made for TV movie. Lacking in exploitation elements, it could almost be PG rated. It's decent, but could've been a lot better. Very thin on extras. But the restoration looks excellent."

A Slasher That Camps Out in Your Memory

"Memorial Valley Massacre is one of those early eighties oddities that feels like it wandered out of a dusty rental shelf and into the present day with its head held high. The movie itself is a mix of campground mayhem, rubbery menace, and the kind of earnest performances that make regional slashers so strangely endearing. It is not polished, but it has personality, and that is half the fun with a title like this. The Blu Ray release gives the film a welcome second life. The picture quality is far cleaner than anyone who saw it on late‑night television would expect. Colors look steadier, the outdoor scenes have more depth, and the transfer preserves the grain without letting it overwhelm the image. It is the sort of upgrade that lets you appreciate the quirks of the production rather than squint through them. The Blu Ray art leans into the film’s pulpy charm. Bold colors, dramatic poses, and a slightly exaggerated sense of danger capture exactly what the movie promises. It is the kind of cover that would have jumped off a video‑store wall, daring you to take it home. As a release, it feels surprisingly thoughtful. The presentation respects the film’s scrappy origins while giving it the clarity and shelf presence it never had in its original run. For fans of deep‑cut slashers, it is a satisfying resurrection."

Cavemen on a long weekend?!

"What would happen if a caveman got loose over the memorial day weekend? Well this film answers that age old question"

80’s Slasher Fun!!!

"What a completely weird flick, but ultimately the best entertainment around! It’s an unorthodox slasher straight from the late 80s and brimming with fun and entertainment around every corner! Once again vinegar syndrome introduces me to a long lost movie that I absolutely loved! A+++"

Blind buy, holiday sale pick

"Blind buy, holiday sale pick up. Solid C horror film, with some charm. Don't know how often I'll revisit."

Another Holiday Covered

"Not many Memorial Day themed horror options, so this one does the trick."

Mitchell R. (5/5)

Much better than I anticipated!

"Memorial Valley Massacre turned out much better than I anticipated! Directed by Robert Hughes (Hunter's Blood) and with a great cast lead by John Kerry, Mark Mears and Mark Caso as the hermit, the movie took advantage of its great setting and the weather conditions of the shooting to produce a very peculiar atmosphere. It oscillates between comedy, drama, gory violence and a few cozy moments. Actors William Smith, Cameron Mitchell, Karen Russell and the beautiful Lesa Lee are also amazing in their respective roles!"
