Jackie is having bad luck with her life in Hong Kong so she travels to Thailand, believing that a change of scenery will do her well. Shortly after arriving, she learns from a mystic known as the "God of Gold" that if she agrees to “nurse” a ghost child, her fortunes will change for the better. Deciding that anything is worth trying, she sets up the required altar and begins to feed the ghost drops of her own blood. The protective young spirit helps turn her life around, but when she becomes distracted by a new boyfriend and forgets to feed the ghost, all hell breaks loose, leading the ghost to fight off an academic studying the occult and posses Jackie’s boyfriend, thus setting into effect an increasingly violent chain reaction.
In the grand tradition of Hong Kong black magic movies, director Wilson Tong’s GHOST NURSING gleefully indulges in all of the genre’s most beloved tropes: women in supernatural distress, rampaging ghosts, mystical black magic rituals, bodily possession, Taoist sorcerer monks, a botched exorcism and, of course, plentiful graphic and gruesome horror replete with squirming bugs, scalp mutilation, and gushing bodily fluids. Starring Norman Chu (36th Chamber of Shaolin), Shirley Yim (Dragon Lord), Melvin Wong (Righting Wrongs), and Billy Chan (The Big Boss), Vinegar Syndrome proudly presents a brand new restoration of this stylish and underseen piece of proto Category III on Blu-ray for the first time!

Crazy '80s HK supernatural shocker
"The artwork is great, the film is quite fun though not on the same level as truly bonkers fare like The Boxer's Omen and Seeding Of A Ghost. That doesn't mean it skimps on the sleaze, nudity and gore, with all kinds of nastiness being shown. The colored gel lighting also gets a good workaround and it moves at a fast clip. The transfer looks very nice."

Ghost baby gonna get ya!
"A ton of fun and a great intro to these Hong Kong black magic type movies. Some truly gorgeous shots and a time capsule for 1980's Thailand visually. With an over the top ending, this is a great time with friends."
— Emilio M. (5/5)
Black Magic Fun
"I have been on a kick of the Eastern Black Magic movie stuff for the past month and I am for ever most grateful that VS has put out this lesser known one. While not amazing it does have a lot to offer. Plot is your basic story in this type of movie and it has a few crazy over the top scenes that make it worth the purchase. I am very happy to have this among my other Eastern oddball movies. There is limited extra's but I am glad to have this one remastered."

If you’re looking for a
"If you’re looking for a refined, atmospheric ghost story, keep walking. But if you want a Hong Kong horror flick where a Taoist priest fights evil with laser-beam eyes and mystical flip-flops, Ghost Nursing (1982) is your new favorite fever dream [1, 2]. The Slow Burn (to Nowhere) The first hour is a bit of a slog. It’s a standard "wrong place, wrong time" melodrama about a woman plagued by bad luck who moves to Thailand, gets involved with a shady businessman, and ends up haunted by a vengeful spirit [3]. It’s moody and "scuzzy," but the pacing drags—until the movie decides it’s done being a drama [4, 5]. The "Gonzo" Finale In the final 30 minutes, director Wilson Tong throws the script out the window. The climax is an absolute explosion of low-budget practical effects and bizarre supernatural warfare."

Good black magic movie from Hong Kong
"This is a very good release from Hong Kong. It may be a little slow to really start, but once it gets going it doesn’t stop. It contains all the craziness we have come to expect from black magic eastern movie. The presentation is also great, with a beautiful art for cover. Definitely a title I would recommend for amateurs of those kind of movies."

Top tier HK horror
"Great little HK supernatural horror here. Has enough of the over the top bizzaro tropes that HK in the 80's used that keeps you invested. The transfer is top notch and the extras were a great addition. Definitely worth a blind buy if this is your thing."
— Cody B. (4/5)
Balls to the Wall Fun
"So silly but so fun! I highly enjoyed this flick. Recommended."

Hong Kong Black Magic Craziness
"This film is pretty crazy as one would expect from a Hong Kong black magic production. The practical effects are charming and Norman Tsui is great as usual. The included interview with Billy Chan is also pretty insightful and gives some background on certain aspects of the film."
— Lela b. (5/5)
