Jaxxon Pierce (Stephen Dorff, Blade), a capitalist in a now-barren Earth is responsible for manufacturing an immortality serum named "Divinity", which was originally developed by his late father Sterling Pierce (Scott Bakula, Lord of Illusions). Two brothers (Moises Arias and Jason Genao, Ender's Game and Logan, respectively), crash into the decaying Earth to stop Jaxxon from capitalizing on his serum, which is synthesized utilizing heinous methods and leaving an increasingly dire infertility rate in its wake. The twins hold Jaxxon hostage, dosing him with his own drug until his body becomes monstrous, setting the stage for a practical effects-fueled climax full of gruesome make-up and stop motion animation that has to be seen to be believed.

Written and directed by Eddie Alcazar (Perfect), produced by Steven Soderbergh (Solaris) and gorgeously shot on 16mm black and white reversal film, DIVINITY is a sci-fi horror show like no other in recent memory. Featuring an eclectic ensemble cast that includes former teen star Bella Thorne (The DUFF), four-time Mr. Universe champion Michael O'Hearn, TV star Karrueche Tran (TNT's Claws) and contemporary adult film performer Emily Willis, Vinegar Syndrome Pictures is proud to bring Alcazar's lovingly crafted analog genre blast to home video following an international festival run that included nominations at Sundance and Sitges.

Divinity

"Divinity is definitely not going to be for everyone, but I personally found it to be a pretty good watch. The biggest standout for me was the visual presentation and atmosphere. Both of these pulled me in, and I was able to immerse myself in this world. The subject matter was also pretty interesting. Beneath all the surrealism and abstract moments, the movie feels like an interpretation or reflection of where humanity is headed, or maybe where it already is with its obsessions and vices. The special features were decent, but I was hoping for more insight into some of the movie’s events and symbolism. Vinegar Syndrome did a great job with the presentation overall. The artwork for this release is beautiful and fits the film perfectly. I’m very glad to have this one in my collection."

Cool midnight movie

"I got to see this in theaters when it came out. One of the weirder movies I've ever watched in a mall multiplex. Beautiful package from VS. Hope this gets a bit more attention."

Chris L. (4/5)

Power Trip

"I don't know if I'd call divinity a masterpiece, but this film is a trip. I feel like saying it's visually stunning is an understatement. It's definitely something which could be playing in the background in various places. Although I felt the film started to drag a little at times, it's over-the-top finale is something to see. Overall, the presentation of this Blu-ray looks and sounds fine, the transfer is fine, the direction and acting are fitting and excellent, and the slipcover/slipcase are fantastic additions, too."

Beautiful Science Fiction Film

"Beautifully shot in 16mm, this science fiction film is bizarre, intense, and unpredictable. The visuals are great and remind me of "Tetsuo: The Iron Man". The subject of eternity and strength are well done. Recommended!"

Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"

Really enjoyed this wild ride,

"Really enjoyed this wild ride, the B&W photography is incredibly beautiful, and (not really spoilers) a sequence towards the end was unexpected stylistically and had me grinning ear to ear."

"Super unique experience. Definitely gonna enjoy showing this to people"

Black & white strangeness!

"I had been looking forward to this movie for a while and I'm happy I finally got to see it. The elements and transfer for this looks great and it black and white too. I'd say definitely give this a chance, even from the artsy artwork!"

Evan D. (5/5)

Weird

"I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It evoked shades of several other films such as Infinity Pool, Logan's Run, Sin City, and Equilibrium. It's a clever and unique addition to the science fiction/horror genre, with an excellent villain transformation sequence that casts a shadow over the entire film. The concept is highly original, and the setup is intriguing. The film boasts some intense fight scenes. However, the absolute ending is pure science fiction gold."

Mike H. (5/5)

Stephen Dorf, porno babes and hulking bods

"16MM, 16-Bit, industrial metal, stop-motion, experimental, horny body horror, dystopian sci-fi, executive produced by Steven Soderbergh with an ultra weird Stephen Dorff lead performance. Easy blind buy. Looking forward to checking out the extras."
