This listing is for the standard edition 4K UHD/Blu-ray Combo. The limited edition slipcover (designed by Earl Kessler Jr.) was limited to 6,000 units and is sold out. The two versions are identical, aside from the slipcover.

Detectives Doug Bigelow and Roger Mortis have just tried, and failed, to take down a ring of master thieves who have been targeting high end jewelry dealers. While orchestrating a massive siege, the thieves are violently eliminated; one blown apart and the other crushed. While being autopsied, the forensic pathologist makes an inexplicable discovery: the "dead" men were already dead before being "killed." In other words, they were zombies. With little information to go on besides the presence of a strange man-made substance in the cadaver's flesh, Bigelow and Mortis attempt to piece together the mystery, which eventually leads them to a chemical plant, wherein Mortis, true to his name, winds up killed by a hulking zombie. But who’s better to fight zombie criminals than a zombie cop?

A novel take on the zombie film, Oscar nominee Mark Goldblatt’s (The Punisher) directorial debut, DEAD HEAT is a tightly paced and darkly comedic action-horror film featuring plentiful gore effects and with an all-star cast, headlined by Emmy nominees Treat Williams (Things to Do in Denver When You’re Dead), Joe Piscopo (Wise Guys), Darren McGavin (Kolchak: The Night Stalker), alongside horror icon Vincent Price (Theatre of Blood) in one of his final roles. Vinegar Syndrome proudly presents the worldwide 4K UHD debut of DEAD HEAT, newly restored from its 35mm original negative!

"The ultimate buddy cop zombie flick is here and restored perfectly! Heat is Right

"I randomly had a vhs of this in a box my friend gave me and I had no idea what it was, when I put it in I had no idea it would have zombie-like living dead elements, alongside the cheesy 80s buddy cop stuff is amazing! When I saw what this was I had to grab the 4k and I’m glad I did. As always the transfer is amazing and a huge improvement from the vhs, and the packaging is great as well as the features. I love this one. Can’t recommend enough."

Chris S. (5/5)

Dead Great!

"This was a blind buy, I just liked the pictures on the website. Looked like my type of film. I watched it and loved it. I only got the standard but was very happy with the packaging and the art work. The film itself looked and sounded great. Clear picture just the right colour grading, the music and special effects were just right for the film coming from surround sound, a very good restoration. Classic cult 80s horror comedy, something I’m already thinking of rewatching. It’ll sit in my top ten of fun action horror romp! Good laugh."

David R. (5/5)

Love this release super fun

"Love this release super fun special effects and a great cast and concepts"

Will S. (5/5)

'Lethal Weapon' with zombies. . . .

"Starring the vastly underrated Treat Williams - don't get me started on how much more love 'Deep Rising' should be getting! Extra points for The Night Stalker himself, Darren McGavin, plus a bonus Vincent Price appearance! Excellent picture quality and a great way to spend 90 minutes."

Scott L. (5/5)

Great release

"Hell yeah. . fun watch"

Richard J. (5/5)

A Real Treat

"A zombie / buddy cop mashup that works far better than it should. Treat Williams and Joe Piscopo are a team-up I’d never have imagined but they make a terrific pair. The gore is more successful than the humor, but the premise and leads, buoyed by winning character actors, make for a blast of a flick."
