This special limited edition 2-disc 4K UHD/Blu-ray set comes with a spot gloss hard slipcase + slipcover combo (designed by Adam Maida), includes a 40-page perfect bound book and is limited to 6,000 units. It is only available on our website and at select indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them.

When the wealthy Andrew Marsh is found dead of a heart attack in bed, the police don't know what to make of the homemade sex-tape he died watching, nor the fact that he was discovered handcuffed. As it comes out that his much younger, BDSM-inclined girlfriend Rebecca Carlson was not only on that sextape, but also in his will for an $8M inheritance, district attorney Robert Garrett goes after her. Accusing Rebecca of having cunningly made her own body the murder weapon, and with public opinion against her, only Carlson's defense attorney, Frank Dulaney, seems to believe that she's innocent. But that's before things get considerably rougher, both in the court and in the uneasy confidence between Rebecca and her chosen counsel.

Released at the height of the 1990's erotic thriller boom, BODY OF EVIDENCE took the bold step of casting a pop culture superstar arguably at the peak of her fame, Madonna (Desperately Seeking Susan). Helmed by a master of the complicated character drama, Uli Edel (Christiane F.), with a nail-biting performance from four-time Oscar® nominee Willem Dafoe (To Live and Die in L.A.), this racy noir builds tension and mood to a dizzying climax. It also boasts a stacked supporting cast including Joe Mantegna (House of Games), Anne Archer (Fatal Attraction), Jürgen Prochnow (In the Mouth of Madness), and Julianne Moore (The Big Lebowski). Vinegar Syndrome is achingly excited to present the UHD debut of this twist-filled thriller in both its unrated director’s and R-rated theatrical cuts, in brand-new, director-approved 4K restorations.

Reviews

a great release of a trashy 90s erotic thriller

"not a great movie by any means, but the work that VS has done with this release is definitely the best way to watch this film. and the deep blacks with the 4K HDR really adds to the noir aesthetics."

Tommy L. (4/5)

Pure 90s erotic thriller chaos

"Body of Evidence is definitely one of those very slick, very dramatic erotic thrillers that could only come out of the early 90s. It leans hard into the tension and style more than subtlety, but that’s the fun of it. Madonna’s performance gives the movie this icy confidence that keeps it entertaining even when it gets a little absurd. The whole thing feels glamorous, messy, and kind of hypnotic in that classic late-night cable movie way. Added bonus is the gorgeous packaging!"

Kenia C. (4/5)

Madonna + Walter Chaw = Masterpiece

"Wonderful release of 90s era Queen Madonna at her most undeniable and fierce. Trashtacular neo-noir that drinks from the bathwater of Verhoeven's Basic Instinct. The packaging is stellar -- but it is the essay by Film Freak Central's Walter Chaw that really makes this a must-own. Simply fantastic."

Michael L. (5/5)

Beautiful artwork, fantastic restoration, and yes that's Madonna's full frontal.

"Yes, that was Madonna's full frontal. Yes, that was William Dafoe giving it a go! While Body of evidence is a visit in 90's pop-culture centered around Madonna's Truth Or Dare reinvention of her career, it totally has a life of its own (and deserves its props). It has a great cast centered around Madonna (most outshine her) some say Madonna's performance was stiff, lifeless, and one-note; however, I disagree. For her one & only 'thriller' she put in the effort. Did it pay off? Probably not. The courtroom scenes drag, but that absolutely beautiful House stilted on Seattle's waterfront provides the perfect cinematic backdrop for William Dafoe's candle wax, eh? I have Madonna's Sex Book, and honestly, I purchased this as a nod to my 90's adoration of Madonna. Sure, she lost me in the 00's, but a trip back to her peak is always interesting. That said, this packaging is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! The artwork alone sells this release! Vinegar Syndrome rarely dissapoints with their chosen artist who gift us with these beautiful physical media showpiece selections!"

Steven P. (5/5)

Sexy, cheesy, filthy, 90s thriller

"I wasn’t expecting to be quite this impressed. The transfer is beautifully balanced, retaining the character of the original film while offering a level of clarity I’ve never experienced before. An outstanding effort."

Patrick F. (5/5)

Not disappointed. New fave.

"Packaging is perfect; quality is top notch. . Sturdy box and nice booklet. The restoration is beautiful. This puts Madonna in the great context of figures and feminism in the last had of the 20th Century."

Eric C. (5/5)

A great 4k upgrade to the blu ray

"There are great improvements in this upgrade. Skin tones are sharp, blacks are deep and colors seem much more rich than the blu ray I own as well. There is a nice booklet that accompanies this release as well."

David B. (5/5)

Body of Madonna

"Back in the 90s era of Sexual thrillers, when Madonna tried to be a revealing lemme fatale the likes of Sharon Stone. Unfortunately for Madonna, this film was not Basic Instinct. Yes the performances are not the best, and there is gratuitous nudity, but that why we like it right? And if you liked Jade or Sliver then this is to be added to you collection. Overall a great package"

Dave F. (5/5)

Basic Instinct cash grab

"Body Of Evidence arrives on 4K with a spot gloss hard slipcase + slipcover combo (designed by Adam Maida), includes a 40-page perfect bound book. The Basic Instinct cash grab was produced by Dino DeLaurntiis Co, it comes nowhere close to Basic Instinct, but it does have a good cast"

LUIS C. (5/5)

Body of Evidence 4K Sexiness!

"Jaw dropping 4K release of the 1993 erotic thriller BODY OF EVIDENCE. Vinegar Syndrome has done a tremendous job releasing this film on 4K. PQ is 5/5, Best it’s ever looked. Love the grain! Packaging is first rate as usual, very good extras! Hope we see more Erotic Thrillers on 4K in the future from VS!"
