MY FATHER IS A HERO is part of our Vinegar Syndrome Archive collection, celebrating forgotten cinematic oddities from the video store era. This collection was inspired by our own brick & mortar video stores, with locations in Bridgeport, CT; Aurora, CO and Toronto, ON!
Unique to this line, each hand numbered limited edition release will come fitted in a specially designed, bottom loading VHS inspired slipcase, while also including a double-sided poster.
These releases will ONLY be available on our website and at participating indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them. This slipcase edition (designed by Poochamin) is strictly limited to 4,000 units and may (but probably not) be followed by a standard edition in the future.

Gong Wei is an undercover cop living in mainland China. He is so deep undercover that his own wife and son don't even know he's a cop. After a mid-level gangster nicknamed Blackie is arrested, Wei is ordered by his superiors to help Blackie escape back to Hong Kong in an attempt to gain his trust and infiltrate his gang. When an arms deal goes wrong, Wei attracts the attention of a female Hong Kong detective named Anne Fong who begins investigating him. Things become more complicated for Wei when his own son soon ends up in danger and Wei has no choice but to team up with Anne in order to save his son and stop the gangsters from pulling off a deadly heist.
Released in America under the alternate title The Enforcer, MY FATHER IS A HERO teams up international martial arts superstar Jet Li (Once Upon a Time in China, Lethal Weapon 4) with renowned action director Corey Yuen (Righting Wrongs, The Transporter). Showcasing the lightning fast fight scenes and gravity-defying stunt work that Jet Li has become known for, MY FATHER IS A HERO also has an emotional storyline thanks in part to the performances by Anita Mui (Rumble in the Bronx) and child actor Tse Miu (Ip Man: The Awakening), who also has some impressive fight scenes of his own. Vinegar Syndrome Archive is proud to present this thrill-a-minute martial arts actioner on Blu-ray for the first time in America, newly restored from a studio-supplied 4K master, and featuring an insane fight where Jet Li's character uses his own son as a human weapon!

"Really enjoyed this one. A great Jet Li performance and an engaging story. Some bonkers moments near the end. Great action and stunts in this one. This set crushes. Highly recommend.
"I freaking love this movie. Not only is it a great sit, but I love the care that VS puts into releases like this. The slipcover is thick and rigid with spot gloss, including a reversible insert with new and classic art. Big recommend."

Jet Li Flick
"An entertaining Jet Li film. This is a must own for any Jet Li fans. The film is very entertaining with great action sequences. It also has a compelling story. In addition to Jet Li, you also get Miao Xie as his young son. Miao just just starred in this years great action film 'The Furious'. The film also stars Anita Mui and is directed by Corey Yuen. Overall a great restoration."

A Relatively Unknown Jet Li Feature Not to be Overlooked!
"For my full detailed review of The Enforcer, see my entry on Letterboxd: @M4N14K I viewed this film on the My Father is a Hero Vinegar Syndrome Archive Blu-ray Limited Edition physical media release and it is the same great premium level of packaging and presentation that you’ve come to expect from the generic releases of this boutique label. No other brand beats Vinegar Syndrome at the cardboard game and this great slipcover is no exception to the consistently fantastic artwork and component quality this company produces."
— Michael B. (5/5)
Solid Action Flick
"Good fights - I’ve come to love a lot of these HK action films. This isn’t my favorite but it’s solid, enjoyable. VSA packaging is still the best. Overall this is a nice edition worth picking up if you like Jet Li/HK movies of this era. Packaging, shipping, shopping experience all 5 stars"
— Andrew F. (4/5)
"A classic martial arts movie that I used to see a lot when I was a kid. I'm a big Jet Li fan and this is one of his best efforts. The little kid (who is the star of The Furious now) had a great chemistry with Jet and acted really well. Jut get this one for you!!!"
