"Rob Bonk looked soo different in this with long hair. The extras were informative. The ending in this was kinda similar to Dolly, but better. It had a small bit of Evil Deadishnish to it, but not a lot. I loved that they were drinking Pabst beer, lol. The scarecrow had interesting makeup effects. Definitely inspired me to get more of Saturn's Core!"
"Saturn's Core never fails. Great film with great extras."
"I hate having to write this, because in terms of the packaging and supplements, this is another great Saturn's Core release. It has a number of nice interviews, including a career-spanning one with Sasha Graham, and some other goodies that are fun, too. Unfortunately, the transfer on this is absolutely atrocious. Someone seems to have turned on an AI smoothing filter and cranked it all the way to 11, and the result is a smeary mess with absolutely zero fine detail or video grain - I'm not exaggerating when I say every shot has a horrible, swirling oil paint effect that's completely distracting. This seems to have been done by someone on the production, because they keep referring to "the processing" on the commentary (at one point someone says things are out of focus, and another corrects that that's just "the processing," so you see how bad this gets). Why a company like Saturn's Core, which is supposed to be dedicated to the unique aesthetic qualities of SOV filmmaking, would agree to put this out when it seems to be trying to smooth every bit of video texture out of the image at all costs, is baffling, and this should've been a hard no the second they were handed it. I love this company and am bumping my rating up one cause of the usual great work on the supplements, but this looks absolutely awful. Anyone who's curious I would encourage to buy the old DVD, which HAS to look more natural than this."
"Some hilariously slow moments punctuate a fun Evil Dead II inspired killer scarecrow gore fest. At a short run time of 52 minutes, the movie actually packs in a lot of story. Y2K shot-on-video horrors are a particular favorite of mine."
"I wish it were a little longer but Gut Pile was entertaining with some great practice gore effects throughout. I enjoyed some of the humorous moments mixed with an eerie tone and thought the scarecrow design was really cool. Saturn's Core did a great job with this release!"
"Surprising for an SOV to not overstay it’s welcome at just 50-ish minutes long, but it does what it intends to do quickly and rather well no less, worth the watch for sure."
"Held back on this title for a bit due to the run-time of all things! Nabbed it during the halfway sale and thoroughly enjoyed it like I do most of Saturn's Core catalog. Very fun "Evil Dead-lite" film that doesn't over stay it's welcome with nice gore effects. All the extras were top notch like most of SC's stuff and made the Blu-ray feel like a time capsule of indie treasure."
"Evil Dead influenced backwoods splatter nonsense. It’s short and sweet and packed with extras. Another quality Saturn’s Core’s release."
"This is why you dont go hunting"
