"This horror film is definitely not the gore-fest a couple of the trailers I watched made it out to be. There is not much killing, but the overall tone is dark, and it's made quite well. The story, about a family, begins where the patriarch suddenly dies, leaving the rest to fend for themselves. It is dark and gets very violent with a little decent gore. but it's about the power struggle the family is going through while acclimating to their new lives. The direction, acting, cinematography are all done well, but I particularly liked the outstanding score. I have not seen the film with the audio commentary yet, but there's a sweet making of featurette and a cool booklet. Also, I'm stoked to have been able to pick up one of the badass slipcovers! I haven't seen the remake, nor can I compare this versions restoration, but the film looks and sounds excellent."
"Maybe this horror flick is a more grounded version of "The Hills Have Eyes" or something with the cannibalistic family and whatnot. Way more bleak than I thought it would be which I give props to. I really enjoyed it in a weird way but it definitely is a downer."

"The patriarch of a cannibal family dies and is up to his kids to keep the family well-fed. Some scenes look brutal, some scenes are gross, and even when the family aren't the good guys, you feel some sort of sympathy towards them."

If you haven't seen this familiar drama about Cannibalism and patriarchy, you are doing yourself a disfavor. Brutal, shocking and charming and funny. I began to care about people who would eat me and their plight. If you've only seen the American Remake, do not sleep on this one. Its completely different"
