Andrea Graves inherits her grandmother’s nineteenth century beachfront house. Referred to by the locals as the “Charnel House”, she soon finds that this seemingly innocuous homestead hides a cavalcade of ominous and spectral secrets. Andrea discovers a haunted mirror which seems to act as a portal to the afterworld and soon, the ghosts of the past begin to haunt her in the present. As the undead begin to lay siege upon the house, her only hope for salvation is to surrender to the spirits and fulfill The Pact!
Shot on the scenic shores of Virginia Beach in 1995, The Pact marked an early directorial effort from prolific SOV filmmaker Brad Sykes (Camp Blood, Death Factory, Plaguers). Scarcely seen and distributed since its initial completion, The Pact presents a micro-budget meditation on the dreamy Eurocult sleaze epics of ‘70s crossed with the supernatural shorefront stylings of The Slayer and Blood Beach.

"Another artwork is possibly better than the film, but I didn’t hate this one. It’s a VOD film which is not for everyone, but this film was quite ambitious at times, and something’s really worked. Others were less effective, but overall I was pleased. Extras are limited but I always appreciate shorts, which this film includes one for Tears."

I like how it leans into its Virginia Beach setting and Eurocult-inspired mood instead of pretending to be slick. The Brad Sykes commentary and Tears short are the right kind of extras for a small film like this, and the Corinne Halbert slip art is a big part of the appeal."

"With its 75 minute runtime, this one moves along quick enough to not overstay its welcome. Like most SOV fare, it could certainly be tightened, but its not bad. With SOV, it's best to focus on the positive. I liked the actress Layla Dawn (or Dawn Soleri) playing Andrea. She made for an attractive lead and was better than most around her. The girl playing Delphine also had a nice look which worked for the scenes that were clear homages to Jean Rollin. And some of the original music score was decent for this type of thing. I listened to some select parts of the commentary, as its always interesting to me how low budget filmmakers work. Nice looking reversible art option and slip, so for SOV fans, this is a solid cheap pickup."
