Reviews

Dinosaur Jr for the Win

"Let’s talk about how Dinosaur is one of the greatest bands on the planet. They started out as a band that led the charge for alternative rock in the 80s and early 90s. After losing two original members for a bit the duo came back and the band is as great as ever. But if you’re like me, you got into dinosaur Junior late and maybe you don’t know much about their history this is the documentary to go to it looks great and it sounds great very informative and very entertaining. I highly recommend if you are a LifeLock fan or a newer fan you will love it. My only regret is missing out on purchasing the slip cover."

Stellar Documentary Of One Of The Best Punk Bands EVER!

"I have always believed Dinosaur Jr were one of the best punk rock bands on earth! This release does nothing but confirm that in spades! This is such a cool and awesome documentary with lots of great music as well as the cool stories behind the music! it is a non-stop thrill ride for fans of the band from beginning to end! Even if you are not a fan, you may very well be converted after watching this! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"

hardcore dino jr heads only

"I love dinosaur jr going all the way back to their first album. It's worth noting, this doc has gotten a lot of harsh criticism--because it kinda focuses on their internal drama more than the music and their impact and legacy and stuff...BUT: I mean, I get it. This isn't Gimme Shelter or some Ken Burns kinda deep dive. But it's a doc about Dino jr and if you don't expect the Citizen Kane of documentaries, and happen to love the band--you'll probably dig it. Bonus points for a pretty sweet slipcover that looks great on the shelf."

DINOSAUR!!!

"This is a nice little film about a great band filled with lots of fun footage and some interesting interviews. It's nice to see such an honest and raw portrait of a band from their very inception to where they've landed today. I wasn't really aware of the band's internal drama either, which made this film even more engaging for me. There are some cool insights and stories from the likes of Matt Dillon, Henry Rollins, Sonic Youth, etc... as well as some very brief cameo appearances (did I just see Jim Jarmusch?). I would definitely recommend this to fans of the band, or anyone interested in the early days of pre-grunge indie rock."

Aaron B. (5/5)

Come for the excellent live footage, stay for Jay's mumbling.

"A perfectly fine documentary about one of the greatest American Rock and Roll bands that ever walked the earth. Nothing earth shattering, but I suppose I'm forgiving of that because I kinda don't think that would be fitting for these boys. Features the usual cast of Indie rock doc guests including Thurston Moore who is really going for that "appear in every one of these damn things" 100% side quest completion."
