Two wonderfully trashy H. G. Lewis time capsules 😁
"Blast-Off Girls and The Girl, the Body, and the Pill are exactly the kind of weird exploitation deep cuts I want AGFA and Something Weird digging up. Blast-Off Girls has that goofy garage-rock energy, sleazy music-business setup, pot-party weirdness, and even a surreal Colonel Sanders appearance because apparently why not 😂. The Girl, the Body, and the Pill plays like an after-school special that wandered into exploitation territory and never found its way back. What really works for me is how much personality both movies have. They’re rough, colorful, strange, and completely tied to their era. Neither one is polished, but that’s the charm — they feel like genuine little pieces of ’60s exploitation history instead of something cleaned up and sanitized. The release itself is stacked too. Blast-Off Girls was preserved from a surviving 35mm print because the negative is decayed, while The Girl, the Body, and the Pill comes from the only known 35mm print because its negative is lost. You also get commentary, a Nancy Lee Noble interview, an H. G. Lewis short, a huge trailer vault, photo gallery, and booklet. And that spot-gloss limited slipcover looks fantastic in person. Weird movies, serious preservation work, and killer packaging — easy 5/5 for me. 😁"
