Saturn's Core Audio & Video is a New Jersey based home video label devoted to releasing underground oddities and shot on video cinema on VHS, and now, blu-ray discs! In partnership with OCN Distribution, Saturn's Core will exhume forgotten or under-seen genre cinema from the 80s and 90s, with an emphasis on SOV horror features. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

Shot during a lull in production during their seminal SOV epic Burglar From Hell, New York based writer / director Phil Herman and his Falcon Video collective concocted Jacker; unleashing another notable fanzine favorite during the ‘90s mail order horror boom that was keenly inspired by the real life rash of carjackings that proliferated in the Tri-State area during the era. Its notoriety inspired the elaborate sequel Jacker 2: Descent to Hell three years later and helped cement Phil Herman’s status as a distinctive and eccentric voice in the analog underground.

In Jacker (1993), Mike Rivers is a man on the edge. After killing his nagging wife, he embarks on a non-stop spree of violence; executing unsuspecting motorists for sport. The tenacious Detective Jackson harbors an unquenchable thirst for vengeance after Rivers murders his sister in cold blood. With Jackson hot on the trail and Rivers’ crime spree escalating, the two inevitably collide in a savage fight to the death. Featuring another early and revealing performance from future W.A.V.E. starlet Debbie D. (Eaten Alive: A Tasteful Revenge), Jacker combines thick Queens accents, a skateboard vs. car chase, and bowls of blood-soaked mini wheats for an unforgettable, mind-razing cult movie experience.

The pychotic car jacker Mike Rivers awakes and continues his reign of terror in Jacker 2: Descent to Hell (1996). But this time, Rivers returns as a supernatural entity who can inhabit the bodies of his murdered victims. Focusing his ire on his loan disfigured survivor James, Rivers plunges him into a surreal, psychological hellscape that resembles a solarized verision of Harmony Korine’s Trash Humpers. A New York lensed, analog grimefest with a dollop of prophetic social commentary which boasts a stellar cast including Joel D. Wynkoop (Creep, Lost Faith), Nancy Feliciano (Sickened), and Marilyn Ghigliotti (Clerks, Clerks III)!

Got me Jacked!

"this collection is the ultimate tribute to 90s shot-on-video (SOV) underground horror Oozing authentic analog grime, thick Queens accents, and bizarre supernatural slasher chaos."

"Coming from the filmmakers who have us the insanly entertaining BURGLAR FROM HELL, this is a great double feature of 90s SOV craziness. These films are a twisted mix of action, Horror, thriller and road movie. No holds barred, that's for sure. Phil Herman in the lead is one charasmatic guy and gives a wild performance. Watch out for suprise appearances by Marilyn Ghigliotti, known for a major role in the original CLERKS and the patron of SOV filmmaking, Mr. Joel D. Wynkoop. So much fun! Saturn's Core did a great job remastering these films and I doubt they will ever look better than this. Once again they packed this single disc release with so much special features that it will take you hours to check them all out. Absolutely incredible. I saw that there is a third Jacker movie, which is not included in here though."

A Really Awesome Saturn's Core 2 For 1

"The slipcover is awesome, as always with anything VS or their awesome partner Labels release! The main display of the films is bleak, and it features some low budget special effects, which is what always endears me to Saturn's Core films! The scenes are varied and fun to watch and the film is engaging throughout! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"

Get jacked up with the Jacker.

"I'm gonna say it straight off the bat, I had no clue what Jacker 2 was about in the end, the first half, yeah I was following along with it and found it to be a really entertaining movie. The second half, well it still entertained but if I am being honest I was no wiser with how it finished and why it turned off in the direction it did, whatever direction that was. The first one was a fairly straight forward affair, entertaining and a fun ride unlike for some of the characters in it, but it was fun. The second one I must admit I found more fun if only because after 45 to 50 minutes I didn't know where it was going and even when I'd figured that out, well I was bamboozled, but at the same time having a good time with it. The package overall was as usual a good mix of personal stories of those involved and a solid commentary track also. Now bring on Jacker 3 because I don't know if it's going to be as balls to wall crazy as 2 but I can only hope it is, then I will be entertained once again."

Jacker / Jacker 2

"Saturns Core killing it with their releases. If you are into horror or just films out to shock then this one is a treat. It’s also a great release because it comes with both Jacker movies. Packaging and presentation are excellent. Highly recommended!"

Matt R. (5/5)

Jacked!

"This double dose of 90s urban carnage is a shot of pure, unfiltered VHS adrenaline. Jacker and its sequel display gritty, no-budget mayhem with enough attitude to fill a dozen grindhouse screens. Vinegar Syndrome’s release preserves every grainy frame and neon-lit car chase scene, making these films feel like lost relics from a wilder cinematic era. The action is relentless, the dialogue is gloriously tough, and the body count is higher than your local video store’s late fees. For fans of street-level chaos and DIY filmmaking, this set is a fast ride straight to cult movie heaven."

Bryan K. (5/5)

Violent trouble

"Not the greatest but very fun WAVE esque violent SOV"
