Dark Office Comedy
"It was heavily praised as a gory Slasher but it’s more a dark office comedy with some kills. I liked it because I work in office and could relate to some behavings. Packaging is too dark."

Dorine, a timid and put-upon proofreader and tech expert long employed by a fashion magazine, is informed that due to budget cuts, she will be forced to work from home. Unfortunately, her home life is dominated by caring for her cruel, elderly mother, and it lacks the vitality of the office environment and its myriad personalities. But after she unintentionally electrocutes a coworker, Dorine discovers a tidy new method to fight her boredom and loneliness: murder. Secretly transporting the body of her colleague to her suburban basement, Dorine sets about looking to add new “friends” to this growing social group amid her company's unfortunate downsizing. Pragmatically dispatching an ever-increasing number of both fellow employees and unlucky random people, Dorine maintains a convivial life with her rapidly decomposing corpses, while she's not on the clock, of course.
The only feature film directed by internationally acclaimed and award-winning photographer Cindy Sherman, OFFICE KILLER is a delectably bloody, tightly-paced contemporary slasher that offers a grimly humorous take on the serial killer thriller and a wry look at the corporate environment of the 1990s. With its bleak, lyrical photography and a score by Lounge Lizards co-founder Evan Lurie, it features Emmy®-winner Carol Kane (When a Stranger Calls) as Dorine, along with Molly Ringwald (The Breakfast Club), Jeanne Tripplehorn (Basic Instinct, TV's Big Love), and a guest appearance from Eric Bogosian (The Stuff). Vinegar Syndrome is overjoyed to at last offer the 4K UHD and Blu-ray debut of this criminally underseen horror gem, newly restored in 4K from its original 35mm camera negative and packed with extras, including all-new interviews with its cast and crew.

"A title worthy of a boutique label restoration, and Vinegar Syndrome SHINES with this release. From outstanding simple cover art in a sturdy slipbox to beautiful interior art, the designer obviously loved this film, and presents the artwork eloquently. Each performance from the 90's era actresses are peak career, simply outstanding! As Carol Kane sparkles, so shines the complexity of her inner battle to, well you've got to watch (grin). And, let's not forget how utterly amazing Molly Ringwald, in a supporting role, captures and lures you in. A 5☆ film worthy of its home at VS."
"Absolutely fun and unique take on a creepy slasher flick, the transfer looks incredible didn’t realize this movie came out in 89. And the presentation on the slip case is great and very solid slipcover. Great pickup up."
"Really great, and quite a bit darker than I was expecting. It has a lovely distinct visual style and the gore is shockingly good given its budget. Everyone is great but Carol Kayne is unbelievable. A totally committed and unhinged performance - the whole movie rides on that success of her role, and wow does she deliver!"
"I love a slasher movie. And making the old school final girl Carol Kane from "When a stranger calls" and have her play the killer. Perfection. The office politics are getting deadly and no one is who they seem. The cast is perfect. The extras shined light on a film I keep going back to. Molly Ringwald and Jeanne Tripplehorn both return to talk about the experience of starring in the film in the extras . So informative. Loved it! Also watch out Girl Scouts -you went to the wrong house!"
"Underrated movie. A little cult gem. Recomended"
"Pretty cool. I enjoyed it"
"A dark and slightly comedic slasher with Carol Kane as the mousy but dangerous (and sympathetic) psycho. Thoroughly entertaining and it looks absolutely stunning on this new 4K transfer"
"Interesting film. I thought it was going to lean into the comedy a bit more but it was pretty dark. All the performances are great. Wonderful premise for a movie. VS did a fantastic job restoring this movie. It looks great. Highly recommended"
"One of the most singular and wonderful horror films ever. So happy it is finally properly restored and available for more folks to check out! We were stuck with that Spanish blu ray for way too long. Stellar stuff all around rounded about by the excellent supplements and (new!) interviews with some involved."
