This listing is for the standard edition 2-disc 4k UHD/Blu-ray release. The limited edition slip box (designed by Dylan Haley) was limited to 8,000 units and is sold out. The two versions are identical, aside from the packaging and 40-page book.
Theresa Dunn’s mild demeanor and job as an inner-city school teacher for deaf children masks her rebellious nightlife of frequenting dance clubs and dive bars, searching for easy men and one-night stands. At odds with her older sister Katherine, whose seemingly idyllic life is itself a cover for infidelity and heartbreak, Theresa finds joy in her self-styled form of liberation, in part to overcompensate for the trauma of a disfiguring scar from childhood scoliosis and her repressive Catholic upbringing. When two wildly different men, the square but grounded James and fun but unhinged Tony, enter her life, Theresa is forced to confront her demons as never before, forcing her on a path of increased self-destruction.
Adapted from Judith Rossner’s best-selling true crime novel of the same name, director and screenwriter Richard Brooks’ haunting drama LOOKING FOR MR. GOODBAR stars Diane Keaton (Annie Hall) in an unforgettable and Golden Globe-nominated leading performance alongside an Oscar® nominated supporting performance from Tuesday Weld (Play It As It Lays) in addition to supporting performances from William Atherton (Day of the Locust) and Richard Gere (American Gigolo) in his breakthrough role. An unsettling exploration of mid-70s urban America at the intersecting decline of the sexual revolution and the height of the disco age, filmed with grit and elegance by five-time Oscar® nominee William Fraker (Exorcist II: The Heretic) and featuring an iconic soundtrack of disco and Motown hits, Vinegar Syndrome at last presents the long overdue 4K UHD and Blu-ray debut of this remarkable studio masterpiece, which has been exclusively restored for this release from its original camera negative.

Reviews
It has been some time
"It has been some time since the ending of a movie rocked me like this. That last scene hit me like a brick. I was just completely stunned and sat in silence after it ended. I don’t even know what to say about the rest of the movie. I am not even sure if this is a move I can watch a second time after that."

Finally available in a good release.
"Star studded 70s drama that really connected with me. Really wonderful restoration."

Gritty, grim, and glorious.
"An interesting look at the post-sexual revolution/pre-AIDS sexual landscape for a single woman in New York. As with many films like this, you are left wondering what a female writer and director would have done without the material, but there is no real sympathy wasted on the men in this film. The needy, possessive good guy, the childish self-regarding bad boy, the repressed, demanding father. Still depressingly relevant today."

Excellent Remaster
"WOW! This restoration brings out the "muted grittiness" with high-quality HDR that enhances the film's 70s atmosphere!! This film never looked so good. Quite happy in finally getting one of my “holy grails” of a film I originally saw in the theater in ’77."

Great release
"Beautiful story, and solid performance"

Gritty with fantastic day dreams!
"I had only heard of this film before, never having seen it, so this disc was a blind buy. I thoroughly enjoyed it, despite a few minor flaws. Diane Keaton plays Theresa Dunn, a teacher for deaf children. She loves her job, but also loves to indulge her wild side with partying and risky sex at night. Meanwhile, men in her life are unbearable, seeking to control various aspects of her life and career. It takes some turns and you might not see coming and is fairly gritty and downbeat. Recommended film!"
— Nick S. (5/5)
Great transfer, very heavy movie.
"This movie can sometimes be very emotionally overwhelming, but it’s worth it in the end. Diane Keaton is fantastic, along with the rest of this stellar cast. The transfer is beautiful too. Check it out."
A Dark, Character-Driven Exploration of Desire and Danger
"Looking for Mr. Goodbar is a gripping drama based on true events, following a woman navigating New York’s nightlife while exploring her desires and independence. Beneath its urban glamor lies a story about vulnerability, risk, and the consequences of personal choices. The film’s pacing balances character development with rising tension, leading to a chilling climax. Performances are strong, particularly from the lead, who captures both the character’s confidence and fragility with nuance. This film is compelling for audiences interested in psychological drama, urban alienation, and the darker complexities of human desire."
