Recently released from a mental institution, Jessica, along with her husband Duncan and friend Woody, have decided to move into an isolated farmhouse in search of a fresh start. When they arrive there, however, they discover a young woman squatting on the property. With the group deciding to let their unexpected guest, Emily, stay with them, Jessica soon discovers that their new companion bears a striking resemblance to a girl who drowned in the nearby lake many years ago and who, as local rumor has it, now haunts the area as a vampire. At the same time, Jessica begins to experience strange and frightening visions - is she once again losing her grip on reality, or is something even more strange and sinister afoot?
Heavily inspired by the Henry James novella The Turn of the Screw and Robert Wise’s The Haunting (1963), John D. Hancock’s (Bang the Drum Slowly) LET’S SCARE JESSICA TO DEATH is a somber, dreamlike, and, at times, utterly bone-chilling classic of early ’70s terror. One of the first horror movies to make extensive use of a synthesizer in its score, which greatly enhances the film’s numerous shock sequences, Vinegar Syndrome is thrilled to present LET’S SCARE JESSICA TO DEATH newly-restored in 4K from its original camera negative, with approval from director Hancock, and loaded with a host of brand new and exclusive bonus features.

Let's Scare Jessica to Death
"The 4K transfer retains the film’s natural, heavy grain structure while completely avoiding aggressive digital noise reduction (DNR) artifacts. The Dolby Vision color grading provides beautifully bold, saturated tones that heighten the picture's dreamlike, autumnal Connecticut aesthetic. Contrast is brilliantly resolved with deep, organic black levels and highlights that never look blown out"

The real faces of death lol
"Honestly, I'm so scared as well, I'm surprised I didn't die watching this. Why does every scene, every shot, constantly feel like everything is wrong with the world? I feel like everyone knows the name of this film, but I don't hear it tossed around much as a great of the decade. That should change."

Great presentation of a cult favorite!
"There’s something incredibly satisfying about seeing a favorite film finally receive the transfer and treatment you’ve always felt it deserved. That’s exactly how I felt with this release. The 4K restoration quality is great from start to finish, the audio presentation is immersive and clean, and the packaging demonstrates a genuine appreciation for collectors. This edition exceeded my expectations and then some."

Let's Scare Jessica To Death - VS LE Review

A classic
"I’m embarrassed how long it took me to watch this incredible movie. Print looks incredible and loads better than the shout factory transfer!"

Definitely Worth Upgrading to this Edition
"When I first saw the announce for this edition, since the Blu-ray copy I had was already good quality, I wondered if an upgrade was necessary. I trusted VS based on the quality restoration/tranfer work they've done in the past, and was not disappointed. This is the fitting, definitive release of a true classic that's dear to my heart. I'm no expert, but what really struck me was not only the visual quality, but the sound as well. A highly important element in this film. Was also glad they retained all the extras from the previous release(s) while adding even more goodies to the plate. Other than seeing it upon it's first time on screen, I envy anyone seeing this movie for the first time via this edition. That's true preservation is all about. :)"

One of the best releases
"One of the best releases from VS comes in a film that for years was woefully seen in great quality and left viewers with a myriad of questions on where did something like this come from? Fortunately the new VS disk peels back the mystery of this subtle vampire film with notes of Lovecraft. Top notch release all around."

Who doesn't LOVE this complicated movie?
"If movies were food for the thinking man, Let's Scare Jessica to Death would be DELICIOUS! A phenomenal feat of anticipation, a sense of uncomfortable in-watch shuffling, and one of the 70's most sarcastic gifts to the horror genre, its a complicated, but DELICIOUS watch! I love this movie! Some movies have complicated thematic relevance to societal norms if their day, 'The Possession of Joel Delaney' for example. Today's sensors wouldn't allow certain uneasy scenes in TPOJD to pass, but how about an entire film that could get under your skin? While LSJTD is an often uneasy watch, it's also great fun. And can we talk about how friggin GORGEOUS this box set artwork is? Black-on-pink and the simplicity but eerieness of the design made my heart skip a beat-- it was an instant purchase. The film is beautifully restored, absolutely STUNNING compared to my old versions. This is a purchase you'd never regret! 5☆ to infinity!"

Amazing restoration
"I used to watch this flick on TV on Saturday afternoon Chiller Theater, hands over my face, peering through my fingers, at a 13" TV. Let's just say this restoration is an entirely new experience. So grateful to revisit this flick from my youth"
— Matthew C. (4/5)
Underrated
"I saw this movie in one of those YouTube underrated movies lists, I can confirm it was quite underrated, great transfer from the VS team and great presentation"
