A deranged killer rents a video camera from his local Mom & Pop video shop and uses it to shoot a grisly snuff film. Unfortunately, he unwittingly returns the camera to the store with the incriminating tape still inside. The killer, determined to cover his tracks, murders the video store owner leaving only the detective magazine obsessed counter clerk Ramon to unravel the perplexing mystery amidst a web of crooked loan sharks, ghastly jig saw dismemberments, and circus clown attired police officials.
Amongst the most eye-grabbing and perplexingly titled SOV horror features of the 1980s, The Bloody Video Horror That Made Me Puke on My Aunt Gertrude is an elusive yet noteworthy 1989 touchstone that helped to usher in the underground video explosion that would emerge from the state of New Jersey throughout the ‘90s and beyond. An early directorial effort from prolific indie auteur Zachary Winston Snygg (Blood Bullets Buffoons, In the Hood, Purgatory Blues) that mixes touches of horror and gore with his trademark improvisational comedy flourishes and Sam Raimi & Coen Brothers inspired, POV camera acrobatics. With its masters having been sadly destroyed in a fire, Saturn’s Core is proud to present this limited edition, director approved “VHS only” release sourced from one of the only known, ultra-scarce, original pre-recorded tapes.
