Details

This special limited edition slipcover is limited to 1,000 units and is only available on our website and at select indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them.

Art Label is the new outlet for envelope-pushing arthouse and experimental cinema. Growing from previous work under the Verboden Video and Culture Shock Releasing banners, Art Label is focusing on films that challenge traditional rules of form and content. Art Label is broadening its roots in horror and exploitation, reaching into other dimensions of expression to give new kicks to a well-versed audience of cinematic thrill seekers. Even the most hardened moviegoers will find stimulation in Art Label's releases.

After the tragic death of their parents, two sisters (Summer Greenberg and Amanda Flowers) are torn apart and sent to opposite coasts by a malevolent entity. One sister cannot remember who she is, and the other cannot grasp the fateful task that lies ahead of her. While fighting to make their way back to each other, the sisters encounter many strange characters that could either help them or destroy them.

Prepare for sensory overload from the famously outrageous Dylan Greenberg. For this magnum opus, Greenberg gathered some of her cast regulars regulars in Amanda Flowers (Shakespeare’s Shitstorm), Jurgen Azazel Munster (Werewolf Bitches from Outer Space), and Matthew Silver (Glamarus), and joined them with jaw-dropping new faces, including Cherie Currie of The Runaways, an unrecognizable Whitney Moore (Birdemic), Lynn Lowry (Shivers), Kansas and Parker Bowling (Cuddly Toys), rock and roll legend Alan Merrill, Patti Harrison (Together Together), and Gender Outlaw author Kate Bornstein, with narration by Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs).

      Spirit Riser" is a hyper-colored

"Spirit Riser" is a hyper-colored fever dream that proves you don’t need a Marvel budget to build a multiverse; you just need enough DIY audacity to power a small city. Director Dylan Mars Greenberg delivers a "projectile rainbow vomit of ideas" that feels like a communal ritual for the weirdos, the queers, and the underground purists. The film is an absolute microbudget masterpiece that thrives on its "unabashedly low-budget" aesthetic, blending dizzying 2D animation with surrealist live-action sequences. Watching Michael Madsen and Cherie Currie navigate this "electrifying acid bath" of a plot is pure cult-cinema magic, while Patti Harrison provides the kind of comedic energy that cements this as an instant cult classic"

      Fun Low Budget Flick

"Got this mainly for the Michael Madsen narration, stayed for the low budget goofy fun."

      Jeffrey L. (4/5)

      "What are you, life".

"In this modern new wave of underground and independent trans cinema, Dylan Mars Greenberg is one of the most fun filmmakers to emerge. Filled with community and love for one`s environment and neighbors. The acting is kinda "bad" by typical metrics, but that just adds to the textures here. Resist Hollywood. Enter the underground."

      Cerebral fun

"This was a blind buy for me. I purchased it as soon as I saw that Alan Merrill (R. I. P. ) is in it - I’m a huge fan of his, so was intrigued. I absolutely love this film - was hooked from start to finish, love its energy and it’s obvious how much everyone involved enjoyed making it. Looking forward to exploring the various special features."

      Andrea M. (5/5)

      Spirit Riser

"More collage than conventional narrative, it survives as a testament to Greenberg’s maximalist, outsider cinema."

      Pierre-Yves L. (2/5)

      Cosmic film

"Little great works that if it wasn't for Vinegar I wouldn't even know they existed. Already the slipcover design gives you an idea of the crazy film you are about to see."

      Daniel R. (5/5)

      Spirit Riser

"Bold and unpredictable. Amanda Flowers has old school movie star charm. I wish she was in way more movies. Not always the most coherent movie but frequently entertaining."

      Cameron M. (4/5)

Spirit Riser Art Label Bluray Review

"Spirit Riser was a lot of fun. The trailer looked bonkers. I gave the movie a shot since I really like Michael Madsen and this was one of his last movies. This movie was bonkers in a fantastic low budget way. I enjoyed it more than I should have. The disc comes with a documentary about the director, the directors first movie Glamarus, a short film, and interviews. As usual the OCN slipcase looks great. Check this out if you love bizarre low budget WTF type movies."

      Incredible FIlm.

"I bought this by chance after seeing the director and star being interviewed on tiktok and i'm so glad I did. This was a totally original, incredibly engaging film. The special features alone make this worth triple the price. Just buy it."
