Good movie, annoying subtitle presentation

"I quite like this historical drama and was glad to watch it again. The special features, particularly the interview with the always interesting and forthcoming Asia Argento is nice. My beef is with how the subtitles are done, instead of simply translating the French to English text, there is often the additional [dog barking] or [man grimaces] on screen. Wore, these would frequently be at the top, with the spoken translation below, so there is a lot of unnecessary clutter. I found it very intrusive, and it would take me out of the movie. Sometimes there is just a symbol of musical notes and it would stay on screen for near a minute, even with no music. There needs to be just subtitle track without the extra statements of what can be seen on screen. See some of the images I attached that show how cluttered the screen is when you get the extra bits up on top in addition to the text translation. It was very sloppily done, imo, and so I only give this 3 stars. It seriously hampered my enjoyment of the movie."
